Classifying Numbers:
Natural: 1,2,3...
Whole: 0,1,2,3... (includes natural plus 0)
Integers: ..-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3... (includes whole plus their opposites)
Rational: 1/2, 2.3, 1.222... (includes integers plus fractions, terminating and repeating decimals)
Irrational: 1.23532... (decimals that do not repeat or terminate)
Real: All of the above
Not Real: shows an error when you plug into your calculator (dividing by 0, square root of negative #)
HOMEWORK:
Finish colouring the sheet to indicate type of number
Note: You will need to enter some radicals and fractions into your calculator to see if the number repeats, terminates or goes on forever.
*Don't forget to bring in your bulletin board picture, drawing, puzzle...
