We started looking at creating an equation from a word problem / pattern. We will go over this again in our double block, but here is an example:
STEPS:
- create a table of values
- is the pattern a linear one? (does x and y go up/down by the same amount each time?)
- rise = change in y's
- run = change in x's
- slope = rise/run
- go 'backwards" one spot on your graph to see where the y-intercept would be (green)
- If you need to, draw a graph to see the slope and y-intercept.
